With summer vacations sending so many of us to the SEA, I thought I’d share something that surprises a lot of my clients…
The top homeopathic remedies I use in women’s health often come from the ocean.
Sure—I pull from the full spectrum of nature in my practice.
Plant remedies like Pulsatilla (that small windflower!) are my go-to for many women’s complaints: eczema, UTIs, congestion, conjunctivitis and more.
Minerals like Kali phos—a blend of phosphorus and potassium—offer support for the rigid, driven, 3am-waking, anxiety-stomach, stitching musculoskeletal pains, asthma-prone types.
Animal remedies like Lachesis (Bushmaster snake!) are brilliant for hot flashes that surge upward, PMS that eases with menstrual flow, passionate energy, and strong left-sided symptoms… and especially for those who cannot stand tight clothing around the neck.
As a homeopath, I work with all these kingdoms—plants, minerals, animals—to match the pattern of imbalance I see in each woman.
But the remedies I find myself reaching for most often? Sea remedies.
There’s a reason for this. Think of the ocean:
Its depth.
Its mystery.
Its rhythm, driven by moon and tide—just like our own cycles and seasons as women.
Let’s talk about one of my all-time favorites: Calcarea carbonica.
It’s made from the middle layer of an oyster shell, making it both a mineral and animal remedy!
This remedy is rich in support for:
- Issues around security and stability
- Stubborn weight gain and ligament laxity
- Rheumatic pains, glandular dysfunction, goiters and hypothyroidism
- Menopausal heat intolerance and fatigue
- Menstrual cycles that come too soon, last too long, and bring heavy flow and dark clots
But more than that—Calc carb is about a way of being.
Let’s go local for a moment…
Picture the oyster beds of Shem Creek here in Mount Pleasant, SC.
Oysters float along, vulnerable, waiting for the perfect surface to attach to. Their structure comes from the outside—dependent on the ocean’s rhythm, the tides, the environment’s protection.
Women who need Calc carb often feel similarly:
→ Vulnerable at their core
→ Seeking outer stability, external control
→ Prone to exhaustion, heat intolerance, deep fears (especially lingering from childhood), and hypersensitivity to change
One of my lovely clients with a genetic connective tissue disorder has done beautifully on Calc for over a year—especially for her storm-related pains and spinal/joint instability. Fun fact? She used to sew corset-style garments for herself… an intuitive attempt to give herself that missing external structure.
Calc carb is about security at its core.
And here’s the thing:
Your symptoms make sense.
Your disease state isn’t random.
There’s a pattern—and a matching remedy—rooted in nature.
Amidst all the noise, dysfunction, and exhaustion, there is a world still full of remedies that meet you exactly where you are… and offer what you’ve needed all along.
I hope they awaken something in you!
And if you're ready to dive into this deep, oceanic medicine—My door is open.Let’s begin your care through 1:1 high-touch, concierge homeopathy.
