The Law of Similars states that whatever symptoms a homeopathically prepared substance can create in a healthy individual, can also remove these similar symptoms being displayed in an ill individual.
Imagine you have 4 children who all have been exposed to the same viral pathogen. However each child displays slightly different symptom pictures in response to this viral exposure. One is stuffy, congested and whiney; another has a constant watery nose, weepy eyes and headache; another has burning sensations in their congestion and discharge; and the last is groggy with a dull heavy headache in the back of their head. From a homeopathic standpoint each child would receive a different remedy based on their presentation of symptoms put out from this viral exposure. So for example the child who has a constantly watery eyes and nose and headache could benefit from Allium cepa which is the homeopathic remedy made from purple onion. Now think of what happens when a healthy individual cuts an onion… eyes weep and burn, nose runs like a water faucet. So what symptoms a substance can create in one who is well, can therefore help remove these similar symptoms in one who is ill.
Depending on your sensitivity to the homeopathic medicine, you may experience a slight ‘magnification’ of symptoms that you already have had. This experience should be subtle and brief and there are techniques I employ to lessen these magnifications to make your experience gentler. If you develop new symptoms you’ve never experienced before, most likely a different homeopathic medicine will be chosen for you to shift to.
This is a common question. Homeopathy is very safe even for children and pregnant women. The way homeopathic medicines are prepared is through a process of dilution and succussion (or agitation) to the point (beyond Avogadro’s number) where there no longer is material substance evidenced in the solution but rather the energetic imprint of that source. Some homeopathic medicines are sourced from toxic substances but because of this ultra diluted pharmaceutical preparation there is no longer a risk that lingers.
Please know that doing a quick search online for the remedy that I have recommended for you will yield very limited, oversimplified and general results in understanding a remedy. Multiple entire books are written on 1 remedy and there are close to 8,000 known remedies. The amount of education and analytical processes we go through in making a remedy decision is vast, complex and only one that a qualified homeopath practitioner is able to do. I welcome your questions and will work to bring understanding to you based on your individual case.
Many people of today’s generation are quite ill and have had some level of suppressive experiences, medications and interventions that can further complicate disease processes and pathology. Because of this overall weaker baseline for many clients, our work in chronic care is long term and we often need to move through more than 1 remedy to bring you to a stronger level of health overall. I do this in a very methodical and thoughtful way in my practice.
I primarily work from the Classical Homeopathic Philosophical and Scientific approach based on the Principles of the 'Law of Similars', often one remedy at a time using minimal dosing and repetition necessary to elicit a positive response from the body. There is 'Miasmatic' consideration while also incorporating 'Isopathy' as indicated through the use of Nosodes. At times I may implement Sarcodes, Organ Support Therapy, Cell Salts and Gemmotherapy depending on the level of care needed for each client/scenario.
In addition I ensure that holistic lifestyle habits, nutritional support, bodywork methods and other medical/specialty referrals are addressed throughout care.
I practice in a conservative manner based on fundamental homeopathic principles which confirm using 1 well indicated remedy at a time. Therefore in general I do not use methods of protocols, homeoprophylaxis or blended remedies as these are not homeopathic in principle. There are specific times where using multiple remedies are indicated and appropriate but this is at the experience and discretion of the practitioner.
Blended homeopathic remedies are combinations of a handful of top known remedies that are most commonly used for certain therapeutic needs… such as for colic or migraines. This approach is not homeopathic but the remedies within have been prepared in a homeopathic way. It is like using homeopathically prepared remedies in a non homeopathic manner. I view these as ‘quick fixes’ at best and even ignorant, lazy prescriptions. From my medical mindset it would be similar to starting with a broad spectrum antibiotic until we have clarifying results from a culture which then directs a more specific antibiotic to be prescribed. There is hope that one of the remedies within will elicit a response and alleviate discomfort. There is no individualized consideration, analysis, nor appropriate management of care that we can do with blended remedies as it is impossible to delineate which remedy resonated if at all. Appropriate times to use these blended remedies are in very short term acute issues without access to more appropriate individualized options or guidance from a practitioner. Just remember that whenever blends and protocols are introduced, the risk of compromising the integrity of homeopathy is increased.
I recommend that you seek guidance from your primary care provider before using oils, herbs and supplements. As far as interactions with homeopathic remedies there are no studies that herbs and supplements impede the action of remedies. However I would ask that stronger oils such as mints, tea tree and eucalyptus not be used and especially not be used consistently while under homeopathic care.
Realistically no. Without proper homeopathic education, treating acutes effectively is limited. Ideally chronic care should be established as many seemingly acute issues that come up are actually part of a chronic overall picture and if you continue to ‘treat’ these acutely, homeopathic remedies are simply being used in a reductionistic and suppressive way. Triage of needs is an important aspect of my practice and knowing when you have an ‘acute’ symptom surfacing will be important in efficient management of your case.
Absolutely! In fact I encourage and support you in maintaining a consistent relationship with your licensed medical provider and will refer you to medical providers and specialists when indicated. There may even be times that I ask you to see a medical provider and be medically cleared before accepting you into my homeopathic practice. This is an essential part of my practice that there is oversight in your overall health by your medical provider and my scope of practice for caring for you is limited to holistic homeopathic care only. I do not diagnose or prescribe pharmaceutical medications though my nursing education and medical background inform my care for you.
I encourage all discussions and decisions of vaccinations for yourself or your children to be made with informed consent and with your medical provider. I will not be discussing or assisting in vaccination decisions with clients though at times it is helpful for my general analysis to know vaccination status with your consent.
In acute cases you should notice positive changes within minutes to hours. In chronic care it may take anywhere between a few weeks to a few months to notice positive movement depending on the complexity of your case, history of suppression, the level of sensitivity to that particular remedy, your vitality and other factors.
My focus as an Integrative Homeopathic Practitioner is to support and promote balance, strength and health in your life. We all have our own predispositions and susceptibilities that we will always have and that can resurface during times of internal or external stressors, viral and bacterial illness. It is my ethical responsibility to work in honesty and integrity of my scope and to not use verbiage like heal or cure in my practice.
I recommend Hahnemann labs as a very reputable source for homeopathic medicines and I work extensively with this pharmacy. They carefully follow standards established by the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States (HPUS) and meet FDA requirements of “current Good Manufacturing Procedure” (cGMP). You can find their website here – https://www.hahnemannlabs.com/ I also care for clients outside of North America and work to find similar excellent homeopathic pharmaceutical resources.
Bodywork! Modalities to bring structural alignment and integrity such as Chiropractic care, Craniosacral massage, Tensegrity medicine, Fascia work, Bowen technique, and Rolfing can be very supportive to our work and overall progress. It’s important not to combine Ayurvedic practices or Acupuncture while receiving chronic homeopathic care as these have similar actions to homeopathy and so could intervene in the action of the body’s response to the remedy.
I care for all ages, seasons of life, and a wide variety of health issues including those with more medical complexity. My specialty and experience is with teens + adults post injuries, traumatic incidents and end stage pathology and processes. I am comfortable and confident navigating our work together with clients still on pharmaceutical medications and working in an integrative way with other specialists depending on your current level of care needed.
